Skins vs. Niners- Let's See Some FIRE!

Seeing as how our offense has been playing so well, why not bring in the league's number one defense to test it? This game might be littered with Boo's all game long, then again, Mike Shanahan had never been shut out before last week, so maybe he's extra motivated to erase that from his memory.

The only way I see the skins coming out with a surprise victory is if they can stop Frank Gore, and cause a few turnovers from Alex Smith. If Frank Gore tears up the defense for 150+ total yards, don't expect a pretty scoreboard.

The Skins do have some things to feel good about however. Trent Williams will be back at left tackle, Fred Davis is slated to start at tight end, and it can't possibly be worse than last week, right? Here is a quick run-down of what I want to see in today's game.

Caps-Ducks Preview

Last Saturday, the two hottest teams (at the time), met when Detroit came into town. Since then, the Caps have lost 2 straight and tonight's game carries a new theme.Who can break the slump? While we have lost 2 straight, the Anaheim Ducks come in losers of 5 of their last 6. This looks like a great game for the Caps to bounce back with. Semin has 6 goals in his last 3 games against the Ducks, and Anaheim has a lowly 13.3% power play. They key for this game is going to be winning the special teams battle. Anaheim gives up a lot of penalty minutes, averaging 14 a game, but have been killing them well (85% penalty kill). If the Caps can find a way to get on the board on the power play, things should be looking up for the Caps, if not, expect a low scoring battle.

Boudreau has indicated that the lines will be shifted up quite a bit. The top line stays the same, but Chimera moves up to the second line with Johansson and Semin. Hendricks moves up to the third line with Joel Ward and Brooks Laich. The biggest move is Mike Knuble, who has never dropped further than the 2nd line, is pegged to play alongside Halpern and Perreault. I definitely expect Mike Knuble to come out and have a big game tonight. Boudreau scratched MoJo for the first game this year, and he has come out firing ever since. Knuble tends to start out slow in games, but I think he will work to do whatever he can to prove he belongs on the top two lines.

Jordan Crawford I should thank you for this fantastic opportunity. If Washington D.C. sports was a normal sports town, I would never get to have much fun with this blog. Enter Jordan Crawford. For those of you who haven't heard of him, he was a rookie last year out of Xavier. He made his way to Washington via trade last year and wasn't expected to do much. Injuries and another awful Wizards season gave Crawford the chance to start alongside John Wall and average around 18 points as a starter here.

Now that you're all caught up, here's his most famous quote, along with my comments in red:

Olsen's Army will Return!

I'll drink to that! One of the greatest DCU players of all time will be back for at least one more season as United's General. I don't know if it's just his fiery personality, or a partial Napoleon complex, but whatever it is..he's got the "it" factor, and I back him 100%. I see big things coming for Benny and DC United next season. Some would say this season was a disappointment, but watching the turmoil and uncertainty of the past few seasons I'll take anything I can get.
